The Management Team.

Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company has a team of committed hard-working men and women; many of whom have served our country or have a disability which impacts on their everyday life. Now they use their skills to provide a high-quality service to customers across Scotland and the UK.

Their profile and achievements at SBMC.

“Every Day is a Learning Day” is my motto and we’re definitely delivering that at SBMC! For 15 years I worked with the hardest to reach young people across Scotland to train and support them to access and sustain careers within the construction industry. During this time, I also developed my own skills relating to accredited qualifications.
In 2014 my oldest son, a Scots Guard, was on his first deployment of Afghanistan. He was injured half way through the tour, returned home and was subsequently medically discharged. I had to quickly learn how to care for him both physically and emotionally at a time when he felt he had lost everything. He eventually healed, has made a great success of his life and we have all moved on.
During early 2021 I seen an advertisement for a Training Manager for Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company. This job seemed the perfect fit for me: here was a chance to help others who may have experienced similar issues to those of my son.
I have now set SBMC up to deliver a range of qualifications and the team are working through these as part of their employment here.

“I joined Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company in early 2019. My motivation remains the development and support of individuals, the team and the continued success of SBMC.” I had a great career in the Army. Serving for 20 years, I spent time in the ranks before serving the majority of my career as a commissioned officer. After leaving the Army, I found that a corporate role was not really for me and looked for opportunities to support others. I worked with Combat Stress, the Veterans’ Mental Health Charity for 9 years, supporting some of our most unwell veterans in that time. I joined Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company as the Veteran Welfare and Development Manager in early 2019. I was attracted by the ambition of the project and the developmental aspirations for veterans: this is ultimately what attracted me. As the business evolved and grew, I stepped up to the role of Assistant Director (Welfare and Development) in 2021. My motivation remains the development and support of individuals, the team and the continued success of SBMC.

"Having started out in shop-floor roles many years ago, my career has taken me on a journey into management and eventually to my role as Operations Manager at SBMC. This was a positive move to support Scottish veterans working in an industry that I know so well." I have been involved in Production and Operations Management within print related sectors for nearly 30 years, with particular emphasis in the support of public bodies, social enterprises and national organizations. First within newspaper industries & book printing and then into digital print, document production, mailing, signage, graphics, display, manufacturing, and materials experimentation arenas. I initially became interested in this sector while doing part time work during my student days, but then realised I preferred working and earning money to studying. That’s when I decided to give ‘working full time’ a trial - and I’m still Having started out in shop-floor roles many years ago, my career has taken me on a journey into management and eventually to my role as Operations Manager at SBMC. Things have come full circle now and by joining the team, I have been afforded the opportunity to return to my studies and pursue a BA in Business Management, while still being able to fulfil my role at SBMC. “Over the years, I have met and worked with some inspiring people, however, working with SBMC and chatting to veterans and hearing of their experiences has been humbling to say the least.” I have thoroughly enjoyed working in the road sign industry for the majority of my working life. Over the years, I have met and worked with some inspiring people, however, working with SBMC and chatting to veterans and hearing of their experiences has been humbling to say the least. I joined SBMC in October 2018 and was very excited to be part of this new business to Scotland. In early 2019 we started to manufacture solely in Bishopton and from there on in the growth has been fantastic. I am delighted to be able to pass on my knowledge to others in the team who hopefully will take SBMC from strength to strength. Knowing that any orders placed with us, is potentially an opportunity for employing more veterans, is my motivation.
